COLUMBUS, Ohio (AVC News) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol issued 573 speeding citations and made 11 impaired driving arrests during a three-day, multistate enforcement effort along Interstate 70 earlier this month.
The high-visibility campaign ran Oct. 9-11 as part of the 6-State Trooper Project, with participation from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Indiana State Police and Pennsylvania State Police.
Ohio troopers also issued 27 citations for safety belt violations during the enforcement effort.
Across the three participating states, officers issued a combined 821 speeding citations and 37 safety belt violation citations and made 25 impaired driving arrests.
Kentucky, Michigan and West Virginia state police did not participate because Interstate 70 falls outside their jurisdictions.
The 6-State Trooper Project is a multistate law enforcement partnership that coordinates highway safety enforcement, criminal patrol and information sharing.
