ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AVC News) — The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office has donated $4,000 to a student drug prevention program at Mid-East Career and Technology Centers.
The contribution supports Drug Free ME, a voluntary program that encourages students to remain drug-free and make responsible decisions.
The money comes from cash and property forfeited through drug-related investigations and prosecutions. The funds are being redirected toward substance use prevention efforts in the community.
On Oct. 8, Welch presented the $4,000 check to Clint Rhodes, Mid-East assistant superintendent and Drug Free ME co-adviser.
Drug Free ME uses confidential drug testing and positive incentives to encourage students to maintain drug-free lifestyles. The program focuses on recognizing and rewarding healthy choices rather than solely emphasizing the consequences of drug use.
The program has grown substantially over the past two years, with increased student participation and a greater focus on substance use prevention.
