Mrs. Jacqueline Louise McHenry, 86 of Cambridge
Jacqueline Louise (Steptoe) McHenry, 86, of Cambridge, passed away Thursday (November 5, 2026) at her home under the care of Genesis Hospice.
She was born January 25, 1940 in Enfield Middlesex, England, daughter of the late Leonard J. Steptoe and Florence A. (Brooks) Steptoe. Jacqueline completed secondary school in England before coming to the United States.
Jacqueline retired from the former Guernsey Memorial Hospital, where she had worked as a nurse’s aide for many years. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 386 of Cambridge.
She loved playing bingo, shopping at Wal-Mart, and getting her hair & nails done by Liz Klein-Camp – her hero – at Allure Salon.
Jacqueline loved her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. That special love was reciprocated by her family. Her granddaughter, Tess, shares the following: “My nanny was such a unique and classy woman – there is nobody else like her. She was truly an angel that walked this Earth. She was very loved and will be missed. She was a second mother to me and I don’t know where I would be without her.” And Jacqueline’s daughter, LaFonda, adds “I love my mommy”. Jacqueline will live on in the sweet memories that the family will always treasure.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arliss McHenry; her brother, Terrance Lewis Steptoe; her sister, Christine S. Brown; her daughter-in-law, Lori Ann McHenry; and her sister-in-law, Janet Redd.
