Clifford E. “Cliff” Buckey, 95 of Cambridge, Ohio

Clifford E. “Cliff” Buckey, age 95 (Cliff would say 95 and a half), of Cambridge, Ohio, died Monday, September 28, 2026, at the home of his daughter in Salesville. He was born March 20, 1931, in Ava, son of the late Raymond C. Buckey and Cecil M. Hickle Buckey Rayner. Cliff was the last surviving student from Halley’s Ridge School, which closed in 1941, and was a 1949 graduate of Belle Valley High School. He retired as an iron worker and was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local #549 in Wheeling. Since 1957, he’s been a member of the Beckett United Methodist Church in Cambridge, where he served as a lay leader and Sunday School superintendent. He did mission work with Men for Missions, frequently taking work trips. For over 60 years, Cliff was a Boy Scout leader for Troop #548 in Cambridge. He enjoyed gardening, even maintaining a garden this year, working puzzles, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Cliff was a devoted Christian man who loved his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. Cowgill Buckey, whom he married November 25, 1951, and who died May 26, 2025; one son, Raymond O. Buckey; one brother, Earl C. Buckey; two sisters, Edna Francis Matthews and infant sister Maxine Buckey; and special friends, Carl and Shirley Beynon.

Surviving are his children, Debra S. (Matthew) Stiers of Salesville and Kenneth E. (Renee) Buckey of Caldwell; 13 grandchildren, Franklin (Alison) Gadd, Timothy (Jessica) Gadd, Julie (Seth) Cunningham, Christopher (Morgan) Buckey, Tara (Brandon) Pickenpaugh, Matt (Tara) Dodson, Krissy (Josh) Myers, Joshua (Jenny) Stiers, Susanne (Chris) Clark, Kassandra (Brian) Shafer, Mallory (Noah) Monhemius, Brittany White (Tyler Ashcraft) and Davis (Taylor) Rohr; 18 great-grandchildren, with 4 more on the way; a daughter-in-law, Karen Buckey of Senecaville; a sister-in-law, Joyce Gentry of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, October 2, 2026, from 11AM-2PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2PM with Pastor Randy Mercer officiating.
