Charles R. “Charlie” Kirkbride, 91 of McConnelsville, Ohio

Charles R. “Charlie” Kirkbride, age 91, of McConnelsville, Ohio, died Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born November 3, 1934, in Sarahsville, son of the late James D. and Rebecca Weaver Kirkbride, Sr. Charlie was a 1954 graduate of Sarahsville High School and was a United States Army veteran, having served in Germany. He was a self-employed truck driver for several years and retired as a truck driver for Local #40 Teamsters. He was a member of the Delaware American Legion. Charlie enjoyed watching television, especially cop shows, westerns, and the news. He also enjoyed fishing in Canada and going to casinos. He was a good-hearted man.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Irene Glidden Kirkbride, whom he married January 3, 1959, and who died July 8, 2012; one son, Terry Lee Kirkbride; three sisters, Jane Karl, Tillie Ward, and Mary Roe; and four brothers, James Jr., Don, Bob, and Sam Kirkbride.

Surviving are his children, Rhonda G. (Edwin) Tilton of Caldwell, John R. (Jean) Kirkbride and Victor G. (Debbie) Kirkbride, all of McConnelsville, Tom (Diana) Kirkbride of Glouster, and James L. (Maya) Kirkbride of Macksburg; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger (Carol) Kirkbride of Pleasant City; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call Friday, September 4, 2026, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, September 5th at 11AM with Ken Perkins officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Center Free Methodist Church Cemetery in Sarahsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
