MORGAN COUNTY, Ohio (AVC News) — A Glouster woman died after being struck by a pickup truck that rolled backward on Pounds Road in Morgan County on Monday, Nov. 2, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to Pounds Road for a motor vehicle crash involving injuries.
The initial investigation found that a Ford truck driven by Richard Blair of Glouster was traveling east on Pounds Road when it stalled while attempting to climb a steep incline.
Blair exited the truck to investigate the mechanical problem. The passenger, identified as Gloriana Blair, also began exiting when the truck unexpectedly started rolling backward.
The passenger-side door struck Gloriana Blair, knocking her to the ground, where she was then struck by the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
She was transported by the M&M Emergency Squad to O’Bleness Hospital in Athens County, where she later passed away from her injuries.
Investigators believe a possible mechanical defect with the truck may have contributed to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and no final determination has been made regarding the cause of the crash.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and M&M Emergency Squad responded. The Athens County Coroner’s Office also assisted with the investigation.
Sheriff James R. Fisher and the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to Blair’s family and loved ones.
