CAMBRIDGE, Ohio (AVC News) — Cambridge City School District is partnering with School Smiles to provide on-site dental services to students from preschool through high school.
The school-based dental program will expand services previously available only to elementary students, making care available to students through 12th grade.
“We are excited to partner with School Smiles,” Cambridge school nurse Jenn Howell said. “This is a wonderful opportunity to assist our older students who need dental care.”
School Smiles sends a state-licensed dentist and dental assistant to participating schools during the school day to provide dental services. Students ages 2 through 20 may participate after signing up and receiving the required permission.
Services include six-month checkups, examinations, cleanings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, silver diamine fluoride treatments, fillings, extractions and crowns. Students receive ongoing treatment plans based on their individual dental needs.
If a student needs a procedure that cannot be completed at school, School Smiles will notify the family and help coordinate care with a local dental office.
All School Smiles dentists accept Medicaid. The program also accepts private insurance and offers foundation assistance to help cover costs for uninsured students.
The district’s scheduled service dates are Jan. 12, 2027, at the Preschool; Jan. 13 at the Middle School; and Jan. 14 at the High School.
Families can sign up or find additional information at www.schoolsmiles.com/student-signup. Schools will also send permission forms home with students.
