James Martin, 72 of Zanesville

James “Jim” Martin, 72, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday October 21, 2026, at his home.
He was born on October 11, 1954, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late James E. Martin and Dorothy Martin. Jim taught for Ridgewood Schools for several years, as well as serving as the Assistant Athletic Director at OUZ. He was a member of the West Lafeyette Mason Lodge #602 F&AM. Jim enjoyed all sports, especially NBA basketball, where he cheered for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, and New York Knicks. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and loved ones.
Jim is survived by his friend, Hazel Rose; 5 sons: Justis Martin, Joey (Stephanie Paynter) Martin, Josh Martin, Jacob Martin, and Jimmy Martin; daughter, Amanda Martin; sisters, Patty Caudill and Cheryl Edward; special cat, Malachi; many other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
