NOBLE COUNTY, Ohio (AVC News) — Noble County Sheriff Jason Mackie announced that 10 deputies received new Angel Armor body armor vests with rifle-rated protection during a presentation Sept. 22 at the Noble County Sheriff’s Office.
The armor was donated through the combined efforts of Cyndi and Tony Watson and SHIELD616.
Mackie said the vests will provide additional protection for deputies as they serve and protect Noble County.
“This is not simply equipment,” Mackie said. “It is an investment in the safety and protection of the men and women who put on the uniform every day to serve Noble County.”
The Watsons are longtime SHIELD616 donors and worked with the organization to provide the armor to the Noble County Sheriff’s Office. According to the sheriff’s office, Noble County is the first agency in Ohio to receive armor through the program.
The vests will be automatically replaced in five years through the program, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Watsons are also preparing to purchase 10 additional sets of armor for the office’s remaining deputies.
SHIELD616 was founded in 2015 to provide body-worn rifle protection for peace officers and first responders. The organization also provides ongoing community support through prayer and encouragement for those who serve and protect their communities.
