Barbara “Barb” J. Varner, 86 of Zanesville

Barbara Joan Varner, 86 of Zanesville, died, Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family, under the care of Genesis Hospice. She was born Tuesday, June 18, 1940, in Zanesville, the daughter of Pete Wiezbiski and Blanche (Nykle) Wiezbiski. She married the love of her life, Russell Lee Varner, who preceded her in death on Saturday, February 6, 2010.

Barb was a huge Ohio State Fan, had a great since of humor, and greatly enjoyed the time she spent with family, and friends on her back porch. When you went to Barb’s home you were always made to feel welcome.

Barb is survived by one son, Russell L. “Rusty” Varner, Jr.; one daughter, Julie Varner Weed-Twiggs; two grandchildren, Nicole Varner and Wesley Weed; one brother-in-law, James & Edda Varner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including J.C. & Nancy Wiezbiski, Bill & Pam Barks, Stephanie & Gary Hill, and Millie Carr.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her beloved husband Russ; one sister, Patty Wiezbiski; one brother & sister-in-law, Jim & Sondra Wiezbiski, one sister-in-law, Helen May “Toni” Barks, and her beloved four legged family member, Big Boy.

The family will receive friends and relatives, Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 11:00 AM till 12:00 Noon, at the Hillis Combs Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Barb will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at 12:45, with Graveside Services in Beulah Cemetery, 4710 Cottage Hill Road, Nashport. The Rev. Chuck Bell will officiate.
