Mrs. Bonnie J. Groves, 90 of Pleasant City

Bonnie J. (Rich) Groves, 90, of Pleasant City, passed away on Friday (September 18, 2026).

She was born August 4, 1936 in Kennonsburg, daughter of the late William Rich and Winifred (Lashley) Rich.

A graduate of Sarahsville High School, Bonnie had worked at the former RCA for ten years. She was also a bus driver for the Noble Local School District for twenty-seven years, retiring in 2006.

Bonnie was a proud foster parent for eight years. She volunteered with Hospice for many years.

Bonnie was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald D. Groves, who passed away October 25, 2013. They were married on February 25, 1956. Also deceased are two brothers: Euril “Bud” Rich and Jerry Rich; a sister, Genevieve Tisdale; and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Cox Groves.

Bonnie is survived by two sons: Allen W. Groves of Newcomerstown and Mark (& Sue) Groves of Pleasant City; seven grandchildren: Josh Groves of Marietta, Shane (& April) Groves of Cambridge, Sheena (& Tony) Gheen of Cumberland, Mandi (& Michael) Ash of Rushville, Tonya (& Luke) Neff of Cumberland, Kayla (& Kody) McCollum of Cumberland, and Kimberlee Gress of Caldwell; eighteen great-grandchildren; her siblings: Brenda (& Chuck) Barnett of Senecaville, Sandra (& Steve) Doudna of Quaker City, Darlene Kern of Galloway, and Billy Rich of Kennonsburg; and many nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Bonnie’s name to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.

Calling Hours 

Visitation will be held Tuesday (September 22, 2026) from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home (609 West Street, Caldwell).

The family encourages those attending the visitation and the funeral service to wear their favorite Shenandoah Zeps, Ohio State Buckeyes, or any Cleveland baseball apparel to honor Bonnie.

Services and Burial 

Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home (609 West Street, Caldwell) on Wednesday (September 23, 2026) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Karl Runser officiating.

The family encourages those attending the visitation and the funeral service to wear their favorite Shenandoah Zeps, Ohio State Buckeyes, or any Cleveland baseball apparel to honor Bonnie.

Cemetery Burial will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery, Ava.
