
Mrs. Emma Jean Wharton, 84 of Byesville
Emma Jean (Webb) Wharton, 84, of Byesville, passed away Tuesday (September 15, 2026) at her home.
She was born July 13, 1942 in Akron, daughter of the late Frank Webb and Wanda (Bundy) Webb.
Emma had worked for twenty years at Centria before retiring in 1997.
She took great pride in all aspects of caring for her home and family – especially in cleaning her home and cooking for everyone. Emma’s specialty was her much requested potato salad. She also enjoyed playing bingo whenever she could.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wharton, who passed away April 9, 2008. They were married on June 10, 1963. Also deceased are her siblings: James Webb, Donald Webb, Donna Baker, and Sharon Jones; and a son, John Russell Wharton.
Emma is survived by her three children: Wanda Doane of Byesville, Albert (& Carol) Wharton of Byesville, and Jerry (& Amy) McDonald of Alabama; two brothers: Jackie Lee Webb and John Wayne Webb; three sisters: Linda Martin, Twila Tilton, and Pam Fairchild; twenty-nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
