The Division is encouraging Ohioans to search for unclaimed funds that may belong to them or a loved one.

The agency received roughly 50% more claims in fiscal year 2026 than in fiscal year 2025. More than 184,000 claims were paid during the fiscal year, a 168% increase over the previous year. The amount returned to Ohioans also increased 72%, from $149.9 million in fiscal year 2025 to $190 million.

The Division is also working to speed up the claims process by eliminating the requirement for a W-9 tax form and notarized claim forms. Nearly two dozen intermittent and full-time employees are being added to help process claims.

Ohioans can search for unclaimed funds and generate a claim form through the Division of Unclaimed Funds website. After gathering the required documentation, claims can be submitted by mail or uploaded through the online system.

Those who have already submitted claims can check their status 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
