Countess L. Spicer, 89 of Caldwell, Ohio

Countess L. Spicer, age 89, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at her home. She was born May 17, 1937, in Reinersville, daughter of the late Aaron Morris and Virgil Mae Sutherland Henry. Countess was a 1955 graduate of Sarahsville High School. She worked at Marianne’s Restaurant as a waitress and a cook and was a poll worker for the Noble County Board of Elections. She attended the Fredericksdale Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, and she also attended the Center Free Methodist Church in Sarahsville. Countess was a band mother, 4-H advisor, and Girl Scout advisor. She worked on the family farm and enjoyed cooking, baking, and reading. She was devoted to her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest William Spicer, whom she married November 16, 1955, and who died August 30, 2012; and an infant brother, Charles Henry.

Surviving are her children, Debra L. Sanford of Caldwell, May Wittenbrook of Caldwell, Kay (Ray) Touvell of Cambridge, Christine L. Spicer-Sills (Christopher) of Lewisville, and Diana F. (Darrin) Starcher of Caldwell; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and a sister-in-law, Ethel Abrams of Caldwell.

Friends may call Friday, September 11, 2026, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday at 11AM with Pastor Mike Boucher officiating.
