Ellen Jane Baker, 92 of Newcomerstown

Ellen Jane Baker, 92 of Newcomerstown, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026 at New Dawn Rehab and Healthcare Center.

Ellen was born April 14, 1934, in Stone Creek to the late Forest and Minnie (Doll) Mizer. On June 23, 1956 she married Jack Baker, who passed away on March 26, 2016. Ellen worked as a kitchen aid and cook at Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown. She attended Zion Lutheran Church in Stone Creek.

She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed bowling, reading, walking, and doing puzzles. She was very health conscious, and was ahead of the times when it came to nutrition.

She is survived by her children Mike Baker, Jody Baker, and Rhonda Baker (John Kistler); her grandchildren Shariah (Trey) Moehle, Joshuah (Madisyn) Fisher, and Noah (Brittany Troyer) Fisher; her great-grandchildren Reagan Moehle, Mackenzie Moehle, and Hadley Fisher; her brother Dale Mizer; her sister-in-law Dorothy Baker; her brother-in-law Gene Baker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Along with her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack Baker; her sister Bea Roby; her sisters-in-law Nova (Frank) Thurlow, Virginia Ames, Betty (Virgil) Bliss, Rosemary Baker, Karen Mizer, and Patricia Baker; and her brothers-in-law Dale (Anna Mae) Baker, John I Jr Baker, Donald (Doris) Baker, Cliff Roby, and Paul (Elvenda) Baker.

A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Stone Creek on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 11:30 am with Pastors Bonnie Gerber and Jean Coleman officiating. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service at the church from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
