Virginia F. “Toni” Smith, 79 of Sarahsville, Ohio

Virginia F. “Toni” Smith, age 79, of Sarahsville, Ohio, died Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at her home. She was born March 17,1947, in Harrisville, West Virginia, daughter of the late Owen “Joe” and Bessie Parr Cantwell. Toni was a graduate of Dexter City High School and retired from Food Center in Caldwell. She helped open the Hills store in Cambridge and was employed there until it closed. She was a member of the Sarahsville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Caldwell Eagles. Toni enjoyed sewing, beading, and crocheting, and was always busy crafting, and she enjoyed NASCAR racing. She was devoted to her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Clifford Smith, whom she married November 19, 1983, and who died September 14, 2013; a son, Michael Joe Clark; two brothers, Cliff and Donald Cantwell; one sister, Anna Mae Haga; and four nephews.

Surviving are her son, Gerald Steven Clark of Sarahsville; her step-children, Michael Ray Smith and Shannon A. Manning, both of Florence; four grandchildren, Josh Clark, Brittany Clark, Sara Valentine Clark, and Matthew Clark; several great-grandchildren; her siblings, James M. “Butch” (Mickey) Cantwell of Macksburg, Richard L. “Rick” (Linda) Cantwell of Buffalo, Kester L. (Mary) Cantwell of Marietta, and Donna R. Cantwell of Macksburg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 3-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Friday, September 4th at 11AM with Ken Perkins officiating.
