Mrs. Anita Joy Potts, 54 of Byesville

Anita Joy Potts, 54, of Byesville, passed away Wednesday (August 5, 2026) at her home.

She was born October 2, 1971 in Cleveland, daughter of Brenda (Brown) Hunt and the late Gordon Smith.

She was a Meadowbrook graduate. Anita had formerly worked at Embassy of Cambridge as an STNA for 25 years.

She enjoyed spending time with family, having girls’ days with all of her granddaughters and going to the movies with her grandsons, and also loved unicorns and all things under the mythological category.

She cared deeply about everyone around her and always put everyone before herself and she will be deeply missed by family, friends, residents, and everyone else around her.

Anita is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of thirty-seven years, Dean J. Potts; her mother, Brenda Hunt of Tiltonsville; her sons: Jonathan (Megan) Smith of Cambridge, Perry (Rhonda) Potts of Cambridge, Patrick (Austin) Potts of Caldwell, and Eric Potts of Byesville; her daughter, Courtney (Chase) of Cambridge; her three brothers; her three sisters; thirteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday (August 7, 2026) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.
