Man arrested in Noble County for assaut of a child following a burn incident in July at a now condemned residence

NOBLE COUNTY, Ohio – On July 8, the Noble County Sheriff’s  Office received a 9-1-1 call from a resident on Outpost Road requesting an ambulance due to a toddler  receiving burns. United Ambulance Service and Belle Valley First Responders were dispatched to the residence. The child was then transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital due to the severity of the burn injuries.
After being examined in the Emergency Department, personnel from the hospital notified the Sheriff’s Office that it was suspected that the injuries were a result of child abuse.
As a result of the investigation, Michael Keith Fox, age 23, of Virginia, was arrested and charged with Felonious Assault, a felony of the second degree, after admissions were made about how the burns had occurred to the child.
On July 13,  Fox appeared before Judge Jennifer Arnold in Noble County Court. After a bond hearing was conducted, Judge Arnold ordered Fox held in the Noble County Jail without bond.
The Noble County Health Department was requested by Sheriff Mackie to inspect the
residence. After the inspection, the residence was deemed unlivable and therefore condemned
for human habitation.  During the investigation, Jane B. Walters, age 61, and Renee J. Walters, age 19, were each charged with Child Endangerment, a misdemeanor of the first degree.
Noble County Prosecutor, Jordan Croucher, is considering additional charges, due to the severity of the injuries.
