Mabel F. DeLong, 84 of Dexter City, Ohio

Mabel F. DeLong, age 84, of Dexter City, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born March 4, 1933, in South Olive, daughter of the late Herschel Howard and Josephine Jacobs Davis. She was a 1951 graduate of Dexter City High School, and in 1995, she retired from Gateway Market in Caldwell where she worked in the meat department. Following retirement, she worked as a greeter for Wal Mart in Marietta for thirteen years. Mabel was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church and she was a 50 year member of the Laurel Grange.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Jo Allen, who died in 1995; two brothers, Donald Davis and Walter Davis; and an infant sister, Mary Catherine Davis.

Surviving are her husband, Paul E. DeLong, whom she married August 1, 1953; two daughters, Becky S. (Jerry) Barlow of Dexter City and Cindy L. (Dean) Jett of Vincent; one brother, Gary (Helen) Davis of Lancaster; 7 grandchildren, Paula (Bob, Jr.) Larrick, Peggy West, Patsy (James) Lombardo, Melissa (Chuck) McKown, DeAnna Jett (Justin Fox), Krystal (Jay) Fankhauser, and Joshua (Rebecca) Allen; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one nephew, David Davis of Lancaster; and her dear friend, Barbara Way of Caldwell.

Friends may call Sunday, May 14, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, May 15th at 1PM with Ken Perkins officiating.
