Ms. Dorothy B. Lamp, 83 of Hilliard

Dorothy B. Lamp, 83, of Hilliard, died Wednesday (May 3, 2017) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

She was born June 20, 1933 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Harry V. “Andy” Hawkins and Dessie M. (Tennant) Hawkins.

Mrs. Lamp had worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the former Shenandoah Truck Stop.

On March 17, 1986, she was baptized into Christ at the Salt Fork Baptist Church, where she was a member for many years.

She loved cooking and baking for her family and was famous for her peanut butter cookies. No Christmas was ever complete without her nut rolls.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Barnhart and Robert Allen Lamp; a grandson, Scott Allen Jones; and a sister-in-law, Delores Hawkins.

She is survived by her son, James E. (& Cathy) Lamp of Clarksburg; two daughters, Sue (& Carl) Perkins of Grove City and Debra (& Gerry) Kenney of Ocala FL; two brothers, John Hawkins of Greenfield IN and Walter (& Martha) Hawkins of Old Washington; a sister, Norma (& Jim) Law of Senecaville; seven grandchildren, Sandy Perkins, Kim (& Wade) Lunsford, Misty (& Matt) Cushwa, Kara Lamp, James Lamp II, Dylon (& Holly) Sparks, and Jared (& Kayla) Sparks; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Laurals of Hilliard for their care of Dorothy for the last several years.

As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Casto Muscle Foundation, 1177 E Mill Run Blvd, Greenfield IN 46140.

Calling Hours 

Visitation will be held Friday (May 5, 2017) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.

Services and Burial 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (May 6, 2017) at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with Pastor Robert Merritt officiating.

Cemetery Burial will be at Old Washington Cemetery.
