Mrs. Linda Sue (Simpson) Chandler, 73 of Cambridge

Linda Sue (Simpson) Chandler, 73, of Cambridge, passed away Sunday (April 30, 2017) surrounded by her family.

She was born August 31, 1943 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Clyde E. Simpson and Justine (Lett) Simpson.

Linda Sue was a beloved mother, wife, sister, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and adored her grandchildren. She also loved to cook and entertain at her home.

She was very active in her church and in the churches that her husband pastored. She dearly enjoyed being in the church choir and being the president of the Women’s Missionary Society. She loved hearing the word of God and talking with her best friend and first cousin, Rev. Diana M. Payton.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband and father of her three children, Rev. Wilbur G. “Sonny” Chandler, whom she met while working at the Post House as a waitress. He died May 16, 1999.

She is survived by her three boys, Charles Jay (& Annaiza) of California, Eric Chandler (& Dawn Bowman) of Canton, and Clyde Chandler of Cambridge; eight grandchildren Jordon McPeek Chandler, Briauna Chandler, Lexy Mossholder Chandler, Elijah G. Chandler, Destiny Chandler, Carlos G. Flores Chandler, Avionna Chandler, and Zakiah Chandler; two brothers, Rev. Clyde Simpson and Rev. Charles (& Betty) Simpson both of Cambridge; two sisters, Jean Diane “Toy” Simpson of Cambridge and Cynthia Simpson of Hartford CT; her good friend, Lorraine Scurlock; a host of nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

Visitation will be held Friday (May 5, 2017) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.

Services and Burial 

Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. Friday (May 5, 2017) at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.

Cemetery Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, at a later date.
