Mr. Whitey Starr, 82 of Quaker City

Whitey Starr, 82, of Quaker City, passed away peacefully on Sunday (March 19, 2017) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 26, 1934 in Old Washington, son of the late Marvin Starr and Beulah (McVicker) Starr.

Mr. Starr retired from Gibson Chevrolet.

He enjoyed golfing and had a special talent for woodworking. He loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Starr served his country in the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Roger W. Starr; and his step-mother, Thelma Starr.

Whitey leaves the love of his life, his wife, Linda (Holland) Starr of fifty-six years. They married at Bethel Church on June 17, 1961. Also surviving are two daughters, Becky (& Mike) Grimes of Salesville and Brenda (& Mark) Roe of Salesville; four grandchildren, Shaun (& Trisha) Roe, Shanna (& Ryan) Wayble, Meghan (& Chris) Knellinger, and Molly Grimes (& Cale Johnson); seven great-grandchildren, Brady, Liam, and Hadley Roe, Jacey, Blake, and Emme Wayble, and Zane Knellinger; two brothers, Herb Starr of Middlebourne and Richard (& Vicky) Starr of Quaker City; a sister, Judy Ellison of Kings Mine; and several nieces & nephews.

Calling Hours 

Visitation will be held Wednesday (March 22, 2017) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City.

Services and Burial 

Funeral services will be held Thursday (March 23, 2017) at 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating.

Cemetery Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City.
