Mr. Curtis Slone, 88 of Old Washington

Curtis Slone, 88, of Old Washington, died Thursday (March 16, 2017) at his home.

He was born August 30, 1928 in Kentucky, son of the late John Morgan Slone and Eva (England) Slone.

Mr. Slone retired from Bellows Valvair of Akron, where he had been a machinist for many years. He was also an independent truck driver.

He enjoyed gardening.

Mr. Slone was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia N. (Nelson) Slone, who died October 9, 1991; a daughter; six brothers and sisters; and a grandson.

He is survived by two sons, Chris D. (& Debbie) Slone of Old Washington and Curtis D. (& Sue) Slone of Akron; three daughters, Faye (& John) Gogg of Alabama, Judy (& Dave) Barber of South Carolina, and Lois (& Dallas) Neiswonger of Senecaville; a brother, Ray Slone of Prestonburg KY; twelve grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.

Visitation will be held Monday (March 20, 2017) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.

Services and Burial 

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Monday (March 20, 2017) at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with Rev. Dave Glass officiating.

Cemetery Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City.
