ANNAPOLIS, Maryland — Kam Williams came off the bench and showed in the Ohio State basketball season opener, he can heat up quickly.

Although Ohio State got off to a rough start at Navy on Friday night at the Veterans Classic in Alumni Hall, Williams scored a team-high 23 points – including 16 in the second half – to lead the Buckeyes to a 78-68 win over the Midshipmen.

Williams provided a spark, connecting on all four of his attempts from long range.

Ohio State had four other scorers reach double-digits: Keita Bates-Diop had 14 points to go along with 14 rebounds for the Buckeyes, Marc Loving added 13, Trevor Thompson 11 and Jae’Sean Tate 10.
