BYESVILLE, Ohio — One of Perry County’s most-wanted suspects is in custody following his arrest on Wednesday night by an alert police officer in Byesville.

Thirty-year-old Shawn W. Potter of Zanesville was taken into custody by Byesville Police Patrolman Seth Harper after he spotted the suspect standing in front of a residence on North 9th Street.

A check of Potter’s identification revealed he was wanted on a nationwide warrant issued by Perry County authorities. The warrant was confirmed through the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Potter was arrested without incident. Potter was wanted by the Perry County Sheriff’s Office on charges of burglary and grand theft.

Two other suspects on Perry County’s list remain at large: Larry Thompson of Crooksville is wanted on an aggravated drug possession charge and Vanessa Ferguson of Corning is wanted on petty theft and drug abuse charges.

In addition to Potter, two other fugitives on the list have already been arrested. Danny Price was arrested in New Lexington and Jeremiah Wilson was arrested at a residence in Zanesville.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of either Thompson or Ferguson is asked to call the Perry County Sheriff’s Office at 740.342.4123.
