CAMBRIDGE, Ohio — There was a large turn-out at Friday night’s Living Word Banquet and Auction at the Pritchard-Laughlin Civic Center, with well over 300 supporters attending the annual event.
According to chairwoman Annette Ellwood, the annual fund-raiser for the Living Word Outdoor Drama pulled in over $36,700 in donations from sponsors and supporters before the event itself began. A live auction of donated items on Friday brought in around $7,100. Organizers hope that, with totals from this year’s silent auction, over $50,000 will be raised for Ohio’s passion play.
Ellwood said this upcoming year marks the Living Word’s 43rd season and was excited about the response to this year’s banquet, which is the largest annual fundraiser for the Drama:
General Manager Heath Dawson commented on the community’s continued support for the Living Word:
The Living Word Outdoor Drama was founded in 1975 by the Reverend Frank Roughton Harvey and his wife Hazel. The nationally-recognized drama brings to life the passion of Jesus Christ in the hills of East Central Ohio.
The Drama takes place Fridays and Saturdays, June through September. For tickets or information call the Living Word at 740.439.2761.
