CAMBRIDGE, Ohio — The beautiful hanging flower baskets are scheduled to return in a few weeks to Wheeling Avenue in downtown Cambridge and sponsorship of a basket is still available through the Cambridge Main Street office. Each year the Main Street design committee, led by Lori Warne-Jones, determines the particulars of the flowers that will adorn the historic downtown district. The task of daily watering and fertilizing, which is the secret to their magnificence, is also managed by Main Street volunteers, most notably Don Bishop and his trusty sidekick, Ruby.
Sponsored solely by donations from residents, businesses, organizations and clubs, the hanging baskets are a feature that brings the many compliments to the downtown each and every year.
This year’s winner of the annual flower basket raffle, (which is a preview of the flowers featured in this year’s baskets) at the Cambridge Main Street booth at the Chamber of Commerce Home Garden & Business Expo held earlier this month, is Gerry Beckner, pictured, with Cambridge Main Street Director, Donna Hill.
